VISUAL VERNACULAR

Visual Vernacular (VV) is a dynamic form of visual storytelling where movement, facial expression, and cinematic techniques come together to create vivid, multi-dimensional narratives. It transforms the body into an expressive and immersive medium that conveys emotion, rhythm, and perspective. As a performance form that does not rely on translation, VV can be experienced by anyone, creating a shared visual space that connects audiences.

Visual Vernacular (VV) is a dynamic form of visual storytelling used in Deaf culture. It involves expressive body movements, facial expressions, and sign language to convey complex narratives and emotions, emphasizing dramatic and artistic elements. Unlike traditional sign language, which focuses on factual communication, VV creates vivid, engaging, andmulti-dimensional stories. Impact and Significance of VV:VV serves as a powerful cultural bridge for both Deaf and hearing people, making it a valuable artistic and educational tool. For Deaf audiences, it connects deeply with the visual nature oftheir language and culture. For hearing audiences, it introduces them to the expressive potential of visual communication. It is a means of highlighting the richness of Deaf performance art and offers a deeper understanding of how visual information can be effectively communicated without spoken language.

ISL POETRY

ISL Poetry is an expressive performance form that uses Indian Sign Language to convey emotion, rhythm, and meaning through handshape, movement, and facial expression. It reveals the depth of sign language as more than a tool for communication, drawing on its linguistic richness to create layered, poetic expression. Much like written poetry, ISL Poetry carries its own structure, rhythm, and artistic voice, offering a powerful and immersive experience beyond words.
